Nausea and vomiting are common early side effects. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Your doctor may also prescribe an antiemetic medication to help.
Dizziness and lightheadedness can occur. Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position. Avoid sudden movements. Dehydration can worsen these symptoms; drink plenty of fluids.
Movement Disorders
Involuntary movements (dyskinesias) may develop with long-term use. Your doctor might adjust your dosage or medication schedule to manage this. Reporting these movements promptly is important.
Other Potential Side Effects
Orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing) is possible. Stay hydrated and avoid standing for long periods. If you experience fainting, contact your doctor immediately.
Sleep disturbances are reported by some patients. Maintaining a regular sleep schedule and avoiding caffeine before bed can help. Discuss any significant sleep issues with your physician.
Darkening of the urine is a common, harmless effect. However, report any other unusual changes in body functions to your doctor.
