Dosage and Administration of Finasteride

For benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the recommended dose is one 5 mg tablet daily. For male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia), the recommended dose is also one 5 mg tablet daily.

Taking Finasteride

Take Finasteride tablets orally, with or without food. Consistency is key; take your tablet at roughly the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Stopping Treatment

Do not stop taking Finasteride without first consulting your doctor. Stopping abruptly may affect treatment efficacy and could lead to a recurrence of symptoms.

Storage

Store Finasteride tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep Finasteride out of reach of children.

Specific Considerations

Liver Disease: Discuss finasteride use with your doctor if you have liver problems. Kidney Disease: No dosage adjustment is typically necessary for patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. Older Adults: Generally, no dosage adjustment is needed for elderly patients.
