Safe Usage of Ventolin: Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor’s instructions. The prescribed dosage varies depending on your individual needs and condition. Commonly, adults and children over 12 use 100-200 mcg per puff, up to four times daily, as needed.

Using Your Inhaler Correctly

Before using your inhaler, shake it well. Breathe out completely. Place the mouthpiece between your lips, sealing them around it. Begin inhaling slowly and deeply as you press down on the canister to release one puff. Hold your breath for 10 seconds, then exhale slowly. If you need a second puff, wait about one minute before repeating the process. Rinse your mouth with water after each use to reduce the risk of thrush.

Children’s Dosage

For children under 12, dosage is determined by their weight and doctor’s assessment. Never administer Ventolin to a child without specific instructions from a pediatrician. Always supervise children using their inhalers.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Never double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Side Effects

Common side effects include a tremor, headache, or muscle cramps. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual or persistent side effects. Seek immediate medical attention if you have difficulty breathing or experience a severe allergic reaction.
