Keep amoxicillin in its original container, tightly closed. This prevents moisture and air from degrading the medication.
Store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures – ideally between 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C). Direct sunlight should be avoided.
Never freeze amoxicillin. Freezing can damage the medication and render it ineffective.
Check the expiration date printed on the label. Discard amoxicillin after this date, even if it appears unchanged. Expired antibiotics may be less effective or even harmful.
If you notice any unusual changes – such as discoloration, unusual odor, or clumping – discard the amoxicillin immediately.
Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully regarding dosage and duration of treatment. Complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if you start feeling better.
Proper storage significantly increases the chance of your amoxicillin remaining potent throughout its shelf life. Consult your pharmacist if you have any concerns.
