Contact your doctor or seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following after receiving Lasix:
- Sudden dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing. This can indicate a significant drop in blood pressure. Severe muscle weakness or cramps. Electrolyte imbalances, a potential side effect of Lasix, can cause these symptoms. Changes in hearing, such as ringing in your ears (tinnitus) or decreased hearing. This could be a sign of ototoxicity, a rare but serious complication. Excessive thirst or dry mouth. This suggests dehydration, a common side effect, that needs monitoring. Rapid or irregular heartbeat (palpitations). This can be a sign of electrolyte imbalance or other complications. Difficulty breathing. This warrants immediate medical attention and may indicate pulmonary edema. Nausea and vomiting that persist. While mild nausea is common, persistent vomiting requires assessment. Significant swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet. Lasix is designed to reduce swelling; its failure to do so needs attention. Severe abdominal pain. This could indicate a more serious underlying condition. Any allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue. This is a medical emergency.
Remember to promptly report any unusual symptoms, even if they seem minor. Early intervention can prevent serious complications.
