Administering the Injection

Prepare the injection site by cleaning it with an antiseptic swab, using a circular motion from the center outwards. Allow the area to air dry completely.

Select an appropriate intramuscular injection site, such as the gluteal muscle or the vastus lateralis. Avoid areas with bruising, inflammation, or lesions.

Aspirate before injection to check for unintentional vascular puncture. If you draw blood, discard the syringe and start again at a different location.

Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle. Inject the Lasix slowly and steadily. Once finished, withdraw the needle smoothly and apply gentle pressure to the injection site with a sterile gauze pad.

Dispose of the used needle and syringe safely in a sharps container. Monitor the patient for any adverse reactions.

Document the administration, including the time, dose, route, and injection site. Note any observed reactions.
